Department of Geography

Geography is the study of the earth and its features as well as the distribution of life on earth and its effects on human life. Termed 'the world discipline', geography has two major fields of focus: physical geography studies how organisms interact with the natural environment such as climate, soil, water, and landforms whereas human geography explores how human beings create, perceive, influence, and shape space. It is a relevant discipline for North East India: where geography can shape destinies of people. The programme includes practical and field work.
