IIRS Outreach Programme

IIRS Distance Learning Programme

Saint Claret College, Ziro is a nodal centre for conducting outreach programmes and online certificate courses in collaboration with IIRS (Indian Institute of Remote Sensing), Dehradun, under its Distance Learning Programme. The College has a well-equipped GIS and RS Laboratory for conducting regular courses as per the IIRS annual programme.

The use of Remote Sensing, Geographical Information Systems, Global Navigation Satellite Systems and associated geospatial technologies is increasing rapidly, creating urgent demand for trained manpower. Live, interactive sessions — enabled through the Internet and the A-View software platform developed by the Amrita e-Learning Lab in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India — are conducted by experts from IIRS-ISRO and other knowledge institutions, free of cost to participants.

Every student who joins the SCCZ family but lacks computer skills is required to enroll for this one-year diploma programme in computer applications.

Computer Fundamentals Fundamentals of Computers, Introduction to Operating Systems, and Windows OS.
Office & Graphics Tools Graphical packages, MS-Office Packages, and hands-on Project Work.
Design & Media Tools Page Maker, Corel Draw 10, Photoshop, Scanning, and a final Project Work.
